I am Maria Mirage, a photographer inspired by Fairy Tales, nature and pre-Raphaelite art.

I love to create stylised and romantic pictures with a textured look. Be they dark, whimsical, mythic or fantastical, my images always have strong colours. I aim to find the spark of magic within every woman and breath upon it, encouraging it to a fire fit to light the beauty of each person I work with from within. It never ceases to give me pleasure, giving every woman I can the opportunity to turn their dreams into reality, giving them the opportunity to step into wonderland with me and express their femininity. I believe every women is a model!

I myself often step in on front of the camera and model myself and done a lot of self-portrait to experience it.

I have a deep connection with nature going right back to when I was a girl exploring the forest on summer holidays. I do my photography outdoors in natural light and have converted my back garden into an outdoor studio which can create such illusions as a enchanted forest, or a magical lake in comfortable and private environment. I have all the equipment and materials to make sure everything in-shot looks perfect.

I can transform each person too, having many accessories and costumes collected over the years which provide me with endless unique combinations of looks and styles to deliver the image desired. I design many of these things myself based on the image themes I offer. I am very hands on, whether this be during the shoot, or when crafting accessories with a hot glue gun on one hand and silk blooms in the other. The process of creation delights me when the result is something beautiful.

I live in a village in the UK surrounded by forest, but which is nevertheless close to London and has great broadband. It is very important to me to live a life which balances a calm and nourishing environment with the maintenance of a close connection with the world. My husband, son and three black cats keep me company.
